Still No Cause for Alarm

I took a test yesterday. You can very clearly see the dark blue "control" line, but what you may or may not be able to see is the very faint blue line to the right. Before we all get our panties in a wad though, I have to confess that I didn't look at the test until well after 10 minutes. I got busy. I do have three children you know! The test instructions state (in bold letters) that you absolutely should not read the test results after 10 minutes. It doesn't say why, though. Is it because the blue line might fade, leaving you to think you're not pregnant when you actually are? Or, is it because when the test strip dries, it reveals the faint blue line, leaving you to think you're pregnant when you're not?

  1. It's because of evaporation lines which can become more visible as the test strip dries. A true evaporation line is colorless though so I don't think that's what you're looking at.

  2. Hmm. The faint line was definitely blue. I guess I'll wait a few days and test again, first thing in the morning. Still not convinced it's the real thing though.

  4. The first test I took with this pregnancy was completely negative. I woke in the middle of the night to go to the potty and looked again and there was a not so faint positive. I always look twice even though it says not to. I took like a million test because I couldn't believe I was pregnant. Then again I was only 4 weeks along and using the El cheapos. But whatever the case was I am pregnant & due in July.

How is the search for a care provider going? I found a midwife willing to come to our home! So glad we don't have the 4 hour drive to Mobile anymore.

  5. When I took tests over a few days, none of the negatives changed to appear positive - not even the last one before I got a positive. (Although the first positive was so faint I didn't believe it until I got a clearer one the next day as I thought it might be wishful thinking.) I hope it turns out to be positive for you.
